easter

Alright, I think this is the last holiday I have to decorate for from scratch (here’s Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Valentines; Christmas has been a work in progress for a few years – here, here, and here). I’ve already told Jane I refuse to decorate for Fourth of July. I can think of zero ways to make that holiday work. Sorry America. :(

Starting with the rickrack garland, it is kind of a spin on this idea. The floral wall thingy is my version of this project.

I think it turned out pretty, but it’s borderline funeral-arrangement-just-needs-a-“mother”-sash. I also think of the kitschy interior of Buca di Beppo every time I look at it. I don’t think it goes with anything else I’ve got going on, so it may end up at Mom’s. If I had stayed with the same type and color of flowers as Laura did, it would have turned out a lot better. That’s why she’s a professional and I’m not!

The little pink bunny banner is my version of this bunting craft. By far the easiest of all of these projects.

Hi there, little bunny! I’m so glad I scored you off of ebay. :)

And finally a new plant in the hanging planter! I pitched all but two of our house plants last fall due to an infestation of some type of gnat. If anyone else has had this problem and knows how to fix it, please do tell.

Moving on… I saw these cute wooden eggs on etsy and thought, “Hey, I can do that!”. I did not, however, dip mine like they dipped theirs, and you can totally tell where the paint bled through the tape. Close enough!

The felt-eggs-on-a-place-mat was inspired by Alice Apple‘s kit on Kitschy Digitals. Again, hers is far superior, period.

No holiday would be complete without some Jane Browning preschool art, so it got hung on the garage door along with a vintage egg cutout that I found on etsy.

And last but not least, the carrot garland:

I did my best to half-ass follow the instructions from this project. I didn’t have any fancy scissors or apparently enough supplies to make the garland look fuller, but again (say it with me) CLOSE ENOUGH! ;)

This little cutie was impressed, and that’s all that matters!
