If you follow me on Instagram, you might recall that Jane got a new bedroom. She is a very light sleeper, and we have always had an extremely hard time getting her to fall asleep/stay asleep/even go in the corner bedroom. It got to the point that she would barely go in there at all unless forced to. It seems that most of the sleeping issues were related to the amount of traffic we have on our fairly busy county road, so moving her into a room with 1/3 fewer windows and one less exterior wall has helped quite a bit.
The first decision made was paint color. She wanted pink and apparently knew the exact shade because she marched into Home Depot and pointed at a paint chip and said, “That’s the one I want.” Done and done. The next thing we bought was the pink button for the wall because duh, Lalaloopsy.
We also needed everything to coordinate with her existing furniture (like her Ikea bed), and a flower design I had in the hopper came to mind.
I turned the design into a poster for her wall (print and poster sizes available here), which influenced the color of curtains I bought. But once I put them up, the plain aqua curtains against the plain pink walls were just too… plain. So I added panels of Joel Dewberry Notting Hill Pristine Poppy Teal fabric to the inside edges using fusible webbing.
I think they turned out pretty well. I also made her a bunting for the wall using fat quarters that I found at Walmart. Other than that, the rest of the decor was just picked up here and there.
I’m pretty pleased with the way the room worked out. Jane loves it, and she’s spending much more time in there, during the day AND the night. It’s definitely a much different room than the one she came from!
PS. Remember her old room when she was still in a crib?
PPS. Remember what the spare room used to look like?
