mini vacation

A couple of weeks ago, we took a vacation-y trip to Cincinnati (as opposed to a family visit trip to Cinti). We had a super-duper lot of fun, starting at Kings Island:

We got rained out in the afternoon, but that was fine with us because our next stop was Great Wolf Lodge, where we spent a night. The next day we did some shopping and headed downtown to check into the Hilton Netherland Plaza. Now that place is a sight to see! It opened in 1931 and, aside from modern rooms and conveniences, it has been restored to its French Art Deco glory. Absolutely gorgeous!

The next day we got up and went to the observation deck of the Carew Tower (attached to our hotel), where we could view all three states (OH, KY, IN).

In the afternoon, we went to the Great American Ballpark to watch the Reds defeat the Toronto Blue Jays.

The next morning we got up and hit the Cincinnati Zoo, which is the second oldest zoo in the country.

And then we finally headed home…! We packed as much into four days as possible and enjoyed pretty much every minute of it. It was nice to feel like a tourist in the town that Chris grew up in (and I briefly lived in) and that we still visit quite often.

Yay Cincinnati! Thanks for a great time!!
