I have a tiny one at my house that is a big fan of Mary Poppins. The movie is no longer an every day occurance in our house as it once was, but it’s still in regular rotation. I was searching on etsy awhile back for anything related MP, and I came across this pattern.
I needed something to cover the hole in the wall in her room where the baby monitor camera used to hang, so I thought this would be perfect. It had been awhile since I had cross-stitched anything, so I misjudged how long it would take to complete.
My Instagram (username: jillbrowning) followers are already aware that I didn’t get it done in time to give it to Jane for Christmas. Or New Years. It was done by Valentine’s Day, but it wasn’t ironed or framed. Then one day a few weeks ago, out of the blue, Jane asks, “Mommy? Will you make me a cross stitch with Mary Poppins?” Guess who had been snooping through the pictures on her mother’s phone…?! So even though it wasn’t framed, I dug it out of my closet and gave it to her as-is. She was very pleased!!
But now it’s finally done!! I originally wanted to hang it on the wall in the blue hoop I stitched in on, but I misjudged the final size of the picture and it wouldn’t fit. I finally found a frame I liked, but I wouldn’t fit in a standard-sized opening so the top of the umbrella got cut off. Oh well…
It looks cute in her room and it covers up the hole. Done and done!
PS. If you have a tiny one that also likes MP, I recommend this as well.
