Terrarium

AZ Vintage, you’re killing me. You find so many awesome things that I want to buy!! Like this terrarium:

I’ve been wanting one of these for a long time. But I’m trying reeeeeally hard to cut back on my spending. AZ Vintage is not making this any easier on me (especially when it’s a good price)!

I got on ebay and etsy to see if I could find any comparables. Of course, I couldn’t (apparently the ones I saw a long time ago are no longer for sale), but I did come across something rather interesting:

What the heck is this, you ask? Apparently American Girl Dolls has a doll name Julie, and she is pretty groovy. This terrarium comes as part of her room accessories set (check out the itty bitty Jiffy Pop!):

She also has a “far out” bedroom collection:

And a fondue party set (among other things):

I personally find AG dolls kind of creepy and overpriced, so I’m not sure how I’ll feel if Jane ever takes an interest in them. But I have to admit, I love these minatures!!!

One last thing – I found this print on etsy when I was doing recon on the terrarium:

It’s a great price for the size (and has an adorable little terrarium in bottom left corner). I’m not even sure how to take care of a terrarium. Have any of you ever had one?

UPDATE (8/8/11):

I’m pretty sure I’ve found the place that used to sell them on ebay. The picture from their website looks exactly like the one from my first terrarium post. Found this out from a post on ModFruGal’s blog.

Terrariums are apparently a thing that’s popular again, too – the place where I buy all my flowers and shrubs has started carrying a bunch of tiny succulents to grow in terrariums, plus tiny accessories like lawn chairs and such. Super adorable, but no idea if it requires a lot of maintenance.

omg – adorable! Is Julie’s last name Brady by any chance? ;)
