Jane’s birthday party project #1

My baby girl turned one on Tuesday (sniff, sniff). But oh, how fun and smart and hysterical she is!!! I much prefer this age than when she was an infant. She continues to amaze us on a daily basis. So in honor of her first birthday party tomorrow (almost today), I have been a busy worker bee and have cooked up some projects to make the event extra special (I use the term “cooked up” loosely, since I will not involve myself in any actual cooking; that’s Daddy’s job).

Jane was all set to wear the same shirt that her friend Kate wore at her first birthday party a few months ago. Then I had to go and get on etsy when I was bored one day, and I ran across some personalized shirts that were super cute. I hemmed and hawed over whether to spend the money on one, so I hesitated. Of course when I finally decided I wanted to get one anyway, the shop I was going to order from had temporarily closed. I searched for some other ones on etsy but never found one I liked. So guess what. I had to go and make one. And you know what? I got exactly what I wanted!! It wasn’t any cheaper than the original one I saw, but who cares? Jane is one, and she will look awesome at her party.

No sewing!! I used this stuff called Heat 'n Bond by Thermoweb (thermoweb.com). I found it at Walmart; my WM still has a fabric/sewing section. It was super easy to use! I haven't tried to wash the shirt yet, but I probably won't dry it even though the package says you can tumble dry low. I will definitely be using this stuff again!!
