For Barbie’s 50th birthday, Mattel has hired Jonathan Adler to decorate a home in Malibu for a party they are holding in her honor. I want to go to there.
Evidently after the party, they will be moving all of the furnishings to the Palms Casino resort in Las Vegas for a special Barbie-themed suite.
I LOVED Barbie growing up, but unfortunately never had a Dream House of my own. Maybe a trip to the Palms in the near future may begin to fix that. This is the one (the 1979 version below) I remember one of my cousins having. I was so jealous.
I also came across a picture of the 1960 version of the Dream House. Even though it’s cardboard, it’s still pretty rad.

Hi Jill! I just wanted to let you know that I found your blog today, and have borrowed (with credit back to you) your image of the 1970s Malibu dream house for a post on my blog. I also notice that we both live in places surrounded by cornfields–bloggers of the corn! Take care! ~Carrie
